The open D7 chord (D dominant 7) is a common chord. It’s similar to the open D chord, but unlike most of the open dominant 7/Major chord pairs, the fingering for the open D and D7 chords is quite different. How to play the open D7 chord
- Place your 2nd finger on the 2nd fret of the 3rd string.
- Place your 1st finger on the 1st fret of the 2nd string.
- Place your 3rd finger on the 2nd fret of the 1st string.
- Strum the first four strings.
