
Here are three ways to play the A chord (easy, medium and hard). The easy version is the classic ‘open A chord’. The medium version is a root-6 A barre chord, played on the 5th fret. The hard version is similar to the open C chord shape, with the first finger barring the bottom three strings.
Easy Version
- 1st finger on the 2nd fret of the 4th string.
- 2nd finger on the 2nd fret of the 3rd string.
- 3rd finger on the 2nd fret of the 2nd string.
Medium Version
- 1st finger barres all strings on the 4th fret.
- 3rd finger on the 6th fret of the 5th string.
- 4th finger on the 6th fret of the 4th string.
- 2nd finger on the 5th fret of the 3rd string.
Hard Version
- 4th finger on the 12th fret of the 5th string.
- 3rd finger on the 11th fret of the 4th string.
- 2nd finger on the 10th fret of the 2nd string.
- 1st finger barres the first 9th fret of the first 3 strings.
